My wife and I canoe a few times a year and this time decided to give this place a try. Upon arrival the staff were not the nicest people. Border line rude. Waited 45 minutes to be taken 14 miles up river. We, along with an older couple, launch and we let the older couple pass us as we just enjoy floating down river. We come up on a bridge where they had tipped the canoe and both were pinned under. We get them to the shore with steep banks and call the livery who could not have cared less that they had lost both paddles and were too shaken up to continue. They did not have a game plan and asked us what they should do. The employees took 30-45 minutes to get the couple in another canoe and paddle them to the next landing. I would assume that this happens multiple times a year and the staff should have had a plan for this. Other than that they did not warn us of a log jamb that had to be maneuvered. Banks were to steep to pack canoe around. I had to stand on the logs and get the canoe, with wife and puppy over 4 logs. We don't mind a little adventure but when we use an establishment to canoe with we do expect better emergency planning and warning system of river obstacles.

Regarding the livery, make sure you check your gear before you head out. We were told to choose our life vests, and they would load everything else. When we were dropped off for our 14 mile float we found that only two of our six kayaks had bungee straps, the others were gone from the kayaks, and there were only five intact paddles - two others in the van were broken. So we were kind of stuck with it. On a positive note, it was a quick sign in and loading for the ride up to the drop off point.

They offer good shuttles, and some great trip options. They also work with the campground we like staying at, Mohican Reservation.

Nice place and nice people. Very relaxing. Not the busy canoe route all the other places go.

We can now say we've been there, done that. We don't need to do this one again. Unfortunately people have disrespected nature here, and there is a mess of beer cans, water bottles, and food wrappers everywhere.

The staff here were super friendly and helpful and offered up some good advice on special things to keep an eye out for like the eagle aerie as well as landmarks for arriving back at the livery. I also like that they take you upstream and you canoe back rather than the opposite! Would definitely go back! Very family friendly!
